Engagement Photography Bellamere Winery
When I asked Katie and Dakota what they wanted their engagement session to look like they said ‘Romanitc, colourful and fun’ and looking through these shots I certainly think that comes across! On a very hot and humid day last summer we went to Bellamere Winery, where this sweet couple will be tying the knot today!
- When my sister Rachel moved to London in 2017, she decided she wanted to have a photo shoot done with her puppy Arthur. She found Woodgate Photography online and after the photo session she highly recommended Erin for our wedding day. Erin is so personable and really strives to get to know you as a couple. She is always quick to respond to emails and answer any questions you may have. Erin did a fantastic job during our engagement photo shoot and she made us feel comfortable and the pictures turned out fantastic! We cannot wait to see what Erin has in store for our wedding day.
- Dakota and I met on October 31st, 2008. Of course, it being Halloween we were both in full costume. I was dressed up as a pirate and Dakota was dressed as one of the members of the musical group Insane Clown Posse. My best friend at the time was dating Dakota’s older brother, Tanner, and the three of them came over to my house to play Dance, Dance, Revolution on our Playstation 2. Halloween happened to be on a Friday that year and close to my friend’s birthday. Myself, Dakota, and Tanner were invited to her party. The four of us spent time together over the weekend and a connection began to develop between Dakota and I. By the morning of November 2nd, Dakota asked me if I would be his girlfriend and the rest was history.
- It was difficult to make an accurate first impression of Dakota due to his eccentric costume choice. However, as the days of the weekend went on I realized that the two of us had things in common and that is when a connection began to develop. – Katie When I first laid eyes on Katie, I instantly thought that she was beautiful, despite her pirate costume. I immediately felt a connection to her and I knew she was someone special. – Dakota
- Katie- In January 2017, Dakota and I decided to pay a visit to Michael Hill to look at engagement rings. I narrowed it down to two of my favourite rings and left it up to Dakota to decide so that it would be a surprise. Over the next few months, I waited in anxious anticipation wondering when the proposal would happen and how he would do it. Dakota- When Katie was in 12th grade, she wrote a novel and I thought that it would be nice to have it professionally printed and bound. I sneakily gained access to it on her laptop without her knowledge and added an extra page asking her to marry me. On the night of April 12th, 2017, when I came home from work I just knew it was the right night. I woke Katie up from bed and I got down on one knee and I presented her with the book and then I presented her with the ring. Of course, she said yes.
- Dakota and I have been together for a little over 10 years now. Of course in this time we have made thousands of memories. Some happy and some sad. We have also experienced many milestones and hardships together over the years. For example, living apart and navigating a long distance relationship for many years; moving to London and living in our first house together; rescuing our third dog and bringing her home a year ago; and moving into our current home that we hope to stay in for many years to come. However, if we had to pick one memory to be our absolute favourite it would have to be our trip to Scotland in 2017. Dakota and I have always shared a joint love for Scotland which was heightened once we began watching one of our favourite television shows: Outlander. When the opportunity to take a trip to Scotland presented itself, of course we jumped at it. I meticulously planned out our six day adventure in which we stayed in Edinburgh and were able to tour all over the country including a boat ride on Loch Ness, an encounter with Highland Cattle, a visit to Roslyn Chapel and Hadrian’s Wall, and a tour to see many of the filming locations from Outlander. This was our first big trip together just the two of us and we often look back on this trip with fondness and eagerly await our opportunity to go back, hopefully in 2020.
- It is difficult to pick one thing that I love most about Dakota because there are so many things. If I had to choose only one, I would pick his caring heart and his ability to take care of me emotionally and understand me in ways that no one else can. Dakota is always there for me and helps me on a constant basis with my daily struggle with Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I would not be where I am today if it were not for Dakota and I am grateful for him every single day of my life. – Katie There are many things to love about Katie: her laugh, her smile, and her big heart to name a few. The thing I love most about Katie is her kind and loving heart. She has always stood by me in my hard times and I could not picture my life without her. Katie ALWAYS puts those she loves first and is compassionate to a fault but that is what I love most about her. Her heart is always so full of love. – Dakota
- We hope that our family and friends view our wedding as we do: a day about love in a romantic, fairy tale setting where Katie gets to be queen for the day. But above all else, it is a day to celebrate our love for each other and this day is a culmination of over 10 years of happiness, heartbreak, struggle, laughter, and above all, love.
- I have given some thought to where we would like to hang our wedding photographs but our living areas are already filled with pictures of us and our loved ones that I will struggle to find places for our wedding photos. However, currently we have a giant canvas print of one of our engagement photos hanging over our fireplace which I absolutely love because it makes a statement in the room. When we receive our wedding photos I would like to find an alternate location for this canvas and replace it with a wedding photo, or a few.
