Rescue Puppies + Weddings = Awesome!

Rescue Puppy Wedding Photography London Ontario

A few years ago I first saw the ‘rescue puppies as bouquets‘ and knew it was something I wanted to do! I have been photographing the adoptable dogs and puppies from Barks and Meows rescue for the past year and a half and when they contacted me saying they would have a litter of puppies to be photographed this weekend I asked both the rescue and the couple if they would be ok with the idea. Luckily everyone was happy to make this bucket list shoot happen for me! Check out more of my bucket list at the bottom of this blog!

Ashley and Jordan have 3 cats that they rescued and adore, one even is named Biscuit- my dog Bickie is short for Biscuit <3 . They weren’t able to have their cats at the wedding so being able to have the rescue puppies there was an awesome compromise! Ashley and Jordan even kept the puppies appearance a surprise from their wedding party which was super sweet when they found out as I all I could hear is the word ‘puppies’ and excited giggling. It was a chilly day and the sun was bright so we wanted to keep everyone in the shade to make sure everyone’s eyes were open, but this meant that we weren’t able to get too many shots as we wanted to keep the puppies warm. I hope to do this again in warmer months to be able to get even more sweet shots!

Barks and Meows Rescue is a non-profit rescue group.  All of their rescues are from situations whereby they no longer would have had a chance to survive.  Their goal is to find wonderful “loving family companion homes” for those adoring canines and felines who deserve a second chance in life.  They are committed to adopting these companions to homes where they are indoors, treated as family members and are continued to be well socialized and provided with both premium nutrition and health care.

These puppies are from Star’s litter and they will be ready to go to their new homes on easter weekend. Star is thought to be an  Australian Kelpie/Border Collie mix. They are very affectionate and cuddly and will be medium size. If you are interested in adopting one of these pups check out the Barks and Meows Adoption process page. If you would like to bring an older dog into your family check out their other dogs available here.

The rescue is in urgent need of comforters in any size so if you have any to donate I would be happy to pick up in London or be a drop off point to give to them when I photograph the next adoptable dog. I’m sure that they would also really appreciate any other donations.

The above shots were some candids take by myself, Clara and very helpful co-op student Jen.

Below is my 2018 bucket list! If you are interested in any of the mentioned sessions please contact me for special bucket list rates!
