Rock Glen Waterfall Engagement session

I’m off to photograph Brittany and Will’s wedding today at the Elmhurst, here is their fun Rock Glen Waterfall Engagement session!

  • We choose Woodgate Photography because Erin’s artistic flare and experience drew us to capturing the right look and feel. Her calm natured approach and welcoming personality helped us make the right choice when choosing photographers. There was no pressure and the ease of communication and her willingness to answer any and all our questions helped make the decision easy.

  • Our love story began on January, 16th 2020, with just a few swipes and one fateful match… What started as a regular conversation led to the discovery that our letters from Hogwarts never arrived in the mail or by owl and that we were left living the muggle life, but through the magic of technology, our lives connected and started a path towards an unexpected journey! It all started with our love of food, sense of adventure, and our love of Harry Potter and pop culture; that snowballed into a relationship we could have only imagined like a Disney tale. They say fate brings you together, but we believe things happen for a reason. After only a few dates our interests began to intertwine and form bonds stronger than that of a trainer and their Pokémon. They say it takes a village to build a home, but who would of thought all it took was a pandemic and 2 cats! Our relationship ignited instantly and thrived with the addition of our newest family member Goku. His spunky attitude and unlimited energy proved a challenge for our eldest lady Riku, who took some time to warm up to him. Their playful nature and aggressive attitude proved to be a challenge at the start, but like love it takes time and pressure to mold and forge into something shiny and worthy of the mines of Mordor. Like a puzzle, it takes time to find the right fit and match the right pieces to create something beautiful. We are still placing the pieces together, but have revealed a bigger story and a much bigger picture that goes beyond a 1000 mismatched pieces. We can’t wait to see where our journey goes and takes us as we level up! Our next adventure begins with sharing it with you!
  • When I first saw Brittany, I never expected that one day I would marry this beautiful woman? Her presence lights up a room and her warming nature and caring personality drew me to her. I knew right away after meeting Britt and hearing about her life, that she is very special with a loving heart like no other. She is like no one I’ve ever met before and the more time I spent with her, the more I realized how truly amazing she really is and that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with this person 🙂 After meeting Will I first thought to be careful because this man is up to no good! But boy was I surprised, Will turned out to be someone who is wonderful, thoughtful, caring and kind. Within moments of meeting him and how our conversations went, my initial impression of him went out the window and was replaced with one thought: this is a good guy. Will is the love of my life, he has been by side through many good and bad times. I often think about one particular memory: I had lost a very special person, my mother. Will and I had not known each other for long when this tragedy happened so I was blindsided with so much grief and I had expected him to back away but instead he stood by and made sure I was comforted and cared for. Although this is mostly a sad memory, it is a memory that truly showed me what type of person Will is and how I knew he was the one.
  • After purchasing the ring, no one was the wiser… although that changed when someone became “Snoopy” and found what may have been a receipt at a particular jewelry store! The expectation was now on and the planning began for what would hopefully be a very romantic proposal. I began imagining what it would look like, where it would take place, and how I would do it, but every idea and thought just seemed so cliché and done before. But then an opportunity opened up when Brit and I planned a trip to Jamaica to go visit her family. Getting Brittany’s father’s approval was the first thing on my list to ensure the proposal was a go. After receiving his blessing I decided to propose to Brittany at the top of Dunn’s Rivers Falls – a popular tourist attraction in Ocho Rios. I wasn’t sure exactly how it was going to work, but bringing the ring on the flight and in my luggage was a huge gamble one of which I did not want Britt to find out. The whole trip I told Britt I didn’t bring the ring and left it at home, after months of searching and giving clues, she still hadn’t found it, but she still had her doubts. The day was set and we went to Dunn’s River on the day of Cinco De Mayo! I was hoping to propose on May 4th as a reference to my love of Star Wars, but plans changed and I was still adamant on the waterfalls. The night before I was still trying to figure how it was going to work – being in the water and around so many people, and how would I keep it safe and dry?! So you can imagine my anxiety and stress the morning of when I double zip-loc’ed the ring box and crammed it into the back of my swimming trunks. Any who saw would’ve seen a larger than normal box in the back of my pocket, but somehow I managed to hide it from Brittany and everyone else. We made our way to Dunn’s River Falls and after settling in, I took Brittany in hand and we started our ascent up the falls. We were wading through kneed high water to start, but my heart sank when we jumped into some falls that were up to my neck. I prayed the zip-loc baggies would hold up and the box and ring would not get soaked. We scaled the falls and took pictures along the way, while navigating through all the tourists. I was eyeing each opening, clearing and waterfall looking for a space to propose, but there was either too many people or not enough time pop the question. At last as neared the top, I noticed a wide clearing with no one around. Britt and I made our way up and I pretended to want to take a selfie of us to prepare for the big moment. We took a picture and as Britt grabbed my hand to continue to walk back up I pulled her back and told her to wait… I don’t remember exactly what I said as it was kind of a blur, but I remember telling Brittany how much she changed my life and how much she meant to me. I held her close and professed my love and said I couldn’t imagine a world without her. I was talking so fast and nervously reached into my back pocket to retrieve the ring. Thank god it did not get swept away or get soaked! The zip-loc baggies were my saving grace and kept the ring box drive. I got down on one knee and proposed in front of a crowd of cheering tourists. We kissed and collected ourselves, only to have a tour guide volunteer to take our picture. We reenacted the proposal for the pictures and the rest as they say is history!!
  • One of the things I told Will when we first met is how I want our lives to be surrounded by pets. My pet cat Riku is the light of my life and my number one priority so he had no choice but to get along with her. Our favourite memory together is when we got our second cat Goku. On September 13th, 2020, Goku came along and he symbolized us becoming a family. He was our first major decision as couple. So Riku and Goku have become the light in our lives.
  • What I love about Brittany most is her selfless, caring heart and how much she makes me happy even when I’m not feeling the best. All I have to do is just look at her and instantly I feel warm in my body and soul. She is my soulmate and someone I could never imagine being without. What I love about Will most is how he is such a wonderfully caring and loving soul. I love how he makes me laugh and whenever I am with him, I feel comfort and calm. He is my home.
  • We hope our friends and family see our wedding through the eyes of love and affection – we want everyone to see how much love we have for each other! We hope that they feel that love and can’t wait to share it with everyone when we all come together and celebrate.
  • We have limited wall space a the moment but once we move out and into a bigger home, we hope to showcase our photos in our living room, entrance, hallways, bedrooms both in frames, on the wall and with a digital slideshow frame. We won’t know exactly until we move out, but you can guarantee we’ll be surrounding our home with our lovely pictures and family.
