London Ontario fall engagement photography

I’m excited to be photographing Sam and Chris’ big day today at Westhaven. Their London Ontario fall engagement photography at Wonderland Gardens had perfect golden hour light and I loved that they brought their maple leafs jerseys and some beers to crack open at the end of the session!

Why did you choose Woodgate Photography?
Liked how natural your pictures are, they don’t look so staged.
Tell us the story of how the two of you met.
We met through a mutual friend at a Dierks Bentley concert. We went to our friends house beforehand and I (Sam) thought he was cute! Once we got to the concert I worked it out so that I could be sitting next to him 🙂 During the concert I got up enough nerve to add myself to his snapchat so that we could chat later!

What were your first thoughts on seeing each other?
I (Sam) thought he was really cute! For some reason I thought he was shorter than me, but he is actually taller! I liked that he had a beard. For Chris, “wow you’re tall”!

Tell me the proposal story (the long version is fine)
We had been in Ireland for a couple of days, on that day (June 4th) we were headed to the Cliffs of Moher. It was a beautiful ride up to the cliffs, the weather was sunny and the skies were blue. Once we got to the cliffs it was a different story though, it was very foggy and damp. We couldn’t even see the cliffs at all. It was a little disappointing but we walked around trying to see if we could get a glimpse anywhere. Unfortunately we just couldn’t see them. After some time of walking around Chris started acting a little weird, taking us in odd directions, and he started to tell me how a year ago he would never have thought we would be here together. He then said he had a question to ask me, I said sure. He pulled out the ring and got on one knee (until he got on one knee my brain wasn’t exactly processing what was happening, I saw the ring but was in shock), and asked me to marry him!! Of course I said yes right away! We were both so excited! A couple of tourists passing by had seen it and asked if we wanted our picture taken. I didn’t cry as much as I thought I would, I think I was in too much shock!! That night we got home and facetimed our parents and siblings to let them know. The rest of the trip was that much more magical after that!

What is your favourite memory together (other than those mentioned above)?
Ireland in general has been one of our favourite memories, we had so much fun and would love to go back again!

What do you love most about each other?
I love that I can be myself around Chris, I don’t have to worry about being anything other than my true self. He is very supportive and is always there for me when I need it. He knows when I’m having a bad day and knows how to fix it. Chris loves that he can be himself, doesn’t matter what happens in life he knows I am always in his corner. Despite the fact that Sam gets hangry she has a very caring side.

How do you hope your friends and family see your wedding?
A fun backyard party that goes all night long

Have you thought of anywhere in your house you would like to hang your wedding photographs?
In the hallway and the stairs
