  • He was out for drinks with his buddies after one of their hockey games at a pub in town called Molly Blooms. I also ended up there meeting a friend to catch up over one drink… or what I thought was going to be one drink. During that one drink, Rich approached us two and invited us to his booth with his friends for some drinks. Rich and I had some good conversation over a number of beers and jager bombs At the end of the night we exchanged numbers, a quick kiss and went out on our first date 3 days later.
  • Rich says once he saw me he felt like he just had to approach me. I had that immediate physical attraction too but as we chatted during the course of the night I became really intrigued by how genuinely interested he was in my job, in my hobbies etc. It felt so comfortable the entire night.
  • Rich tells it best… I had planned a trip to Algonquin knowing that I was going to propose that weekend. I had my spot picked out and just had to get her there. The weather that day was pretty lame and overcast so I was worried that it might not work out that day. It got really foggy and we couldn’t even see across the lake. So we went for a nap and when we woke up it was nice out, so I knew that was my chance. So I convinced Kels to go canoeing. We managed to get nowhere, So I had to go to Plan B. Problem was I didn’t have a Plan B. But quick thinking decided we could hike into the spot. So away we go hiking. I had a fairly tight coat on, so you could see the ring box right away if you looked, so I had to hid it under my arm and hope that it did not fall out. It would have been terrible if it did as we were over a lot of water and on some cliffs. But we arrived at the waterfalls and now I am trying to pick the perfect spot. I think I have found it and I am trying to distract Kelsey so that I can make it work……its not working. So On to a different spot. No we are at the top of the waterfalls and I start scouting out the perfect spot again. I think I have found it and I am working myself up to get down on a knee. But surprise surprise, there is a guy on his knees just down below us and Kelsey sees him and says “look he is proposing”. I immediately respond with “no he’s not!” and then start panicking and thinking to myself that this cannot be happening. Luckily, today wasn’t his day and he was not proposing, so I’m still good to go. We wander around a bit more and its just not working the way I thought it would, but that’s okay, I know its still going to happen. But now Kels is ready to leave and starts walking back towards the path. So I give her a shout and a head nod to come on over to where I am. As she starts walking I tuck around the corner and get the ring out and get down on a knee. My heart is pounding. Seems like she took the longest route to get to me cause it feels like forever. Then I see a little head just barely pop around the corner looking to see where I am. She sees me and her face lights up. Im lost for words and just ask her to marry me before I even say everything else that I had planned on saying or wanted to say. She says yes. We start walking back to the car and I am able to finally speak about how I felt about her and why I wanted to do this. She tells me to stop cause she is going to cry haha.
  • Kelsey: My favourite memory together is a trip we took to Quebec that Rich totally planned for me over Christmas break. The whole trip was perfect from our laughs on the long drive, to dog sledding and hiking, delicious food and drinks in Quebec City, skating at Place D’Youville and the New Years party and fireworks. Above all of that though, my favourite experience together there was our stay in a teepee following dog sledding. I loved feeling like we were the only people around, surrounded totally by nature, with only a wood oven and the company of each other. Richard: I think one of my favourite memories together is hiking up Mount Washington. As we are huge outdoor people, we wanted to test ourselves and push ourselves to the limit and see what we could accomplish. We made it up to the top in pretty good time I felt and it was such a great and rewarding feeling and it was so awesome that we got to do it together. The next day we climbed a different mountain again and it felt great and rewarding again and it was one of the coolest feelings to actually be walking through the clouds hand in hand together and then coming back out of the clouds together to see all of the mountains and nature surrounding us.
  • Wow. That is a tough question. I love his consistently positive attitude and ability or drive to keep everyone around him smiling. And the fact that he is good at everything he does, especially sports. Although I do miss winning sometimes. The way she genuinely cares about everything around her. Her family, my family, her friends, students, animals, nature, future generations. Also her blue eyes and her competitiveness and how she gets fired up when she wants to win.
  • I hope they see it as a reflection of who we are and what represents us.
  • While at Arrowwood farm for our initial tour of the venue, Kathy showed us the album Erin had made for her when they were first getting started as a wedding venue. They expressed their gratitude for Erin’s kindness and willingness to create this album for them. I thought “hey, that is the kind of person I would like to shoot our wedding”. Kathy provided us with a Woodgate photography brochure. Erin has creatively named her packages first base, second base, third base and home run. That creativity stood out to me as did her reasonable pricing so I then further explored her online albums and liked what I saw. Done and done.
