Mini session London Ontario
Mini sessions are generally shorter sessions with a certain theme, a lot of times for certain seasons or holidays. What better way to celebrate a certain holiday than with some updated family portraits! There can be many reasons that families decide to do mini photography session rather than for a full session including that they prefer to do many sessions throughout the year to capture how fast the kids grow. I would love for you to watch the slideshow of my portfolio at the bottom of this page (takes a few seconds to load). Here are some things to keep in mind for your mini session London Ontario.

Location
The location for the mini session is chosen by the photographer. It generally comes down to 2 options- ‘In Studio’ for holidays where it is very prop based such as Christmas and Valentines Day and ‘On location’ which is usually a little more candid and season based sessions outside include spring and fall.
Time of day
The best time of day for a mini photography session is when the children are happiest around naps etc. As limited sessions are available on mini session dates. Be sure to book your session asap to secure a time that works for you.
Clothing
Colours will depend on season but in general we recommend not to be too matchy-matchy but certainly colour co-ordinate and be aware of not wearing clashing patterns and keep the theme in mind. We recommend not to wear any slogan tshirts or any really ‘fad’ fashion as it will age your portraits. Most importantly, wear something that fits well and you are comfortable wearing! Other things to think about are wearing clothing that is form fitting- not baggy and not too tight. For women having definition in the waist by adding a belt and think about accessories. It is also important to wear form fitting under garments that will enhance your figure and that will not be seen in your clothing (bra straps etc). When viewing your photographs, the eye will be drawn to patterns, lines, lace or textured detail, large chunky accessories, contrast and rich/bold colours. Avoid these things in areas that you don’t want the eye drawn to, and use them in places that you do want the eye to be drawn!
Props
Props for these sessions are provided by the photographer but if you have something that you would like to add that will add to the theme feel free to bring it along.
What to do with the images
Now, you’ve had this wonderful experience and have a bunch of images you know you will love and treasure of this time in your families life, you don’t want these images looked at once digitally and then buried under the mountain of food and pet pics! I really love making special collages for mini sessions that can be printed in a large size and framed for your home or even a special themed facebook cover collage. For the holidays like Mothers Day, Easter, Valentines Day, Christmas etc we can make personalized greeting cards to suit your budget.
Other tips-
– Be sure to arrive on time for your mini session as times are usually back to back on these dates.
– We have lots of tricks for getting lovely smiles but if there is a certain toy or song that gets great smiles be sure to bring that along.
– We have a variety of accessories (bow-ties, hair accessories etc) so before buying something ask if we have it!
