Rustic Winter Engagement Photography London Ontario
I’m off to photograph Allix and Chris’ wedding today at Westhaven! Here are their engagement photos captured earlier this year at a beautiful property where Allix had her horses and we included their pup in the photos too!
Enjoy every minute of the planning process. Yes, it may be stressful but you are building memories. Cherish the process.
We actually met through my ex. (I know, your are thinking this is going to be a very entertaining story). Chris went to college with him and we ended up hanging out all the time and developed several mutual friends over the years. One night when we were all sitting around playing cards Chris made a comment that one day he would date me. We all just laughed it off as a joke. Low and behold here we are 10 years later getting married.
What were your first thoughts on seeing each other?
Chris thought “what a total princess” I thought “so this is the guy who has a new girlfriend every month” (I would hear lots of stories from my ex about Chris before we actually met).
Tell me the proposal story (the long version is fine)
I needed to travel to Vancouver for a work engagement and we decided to extend the trip and make it into a mini vacation. Chris’ sister and her boyfriend, Ryan (our MC) happened to be traveling in BC at the same time. It worked out that we could all meet up for the last 4 days of our trip so we rented an Airbnb and made the last for days a mini adventure. We went sea kayaking at dead man’s cove, we explored the science center and we made a day trip out to Whistler. While we were at Whistler we spent time going in and out of the shops in the village, visiting the athletes village from the 2010 winter Olympics and we went on a gondala ride up Whistler and over to Blackcomb. We stopped at the top of Whistler to grab some lunch. On the way back down the mountain, in a shiny red gondola is when he popped the question. His sister and Ryan were both in on it and had cameras ready. We even managed to get a gondola to ourselves, just the four of us. It certainly was a special moment that we will treasure forever.
What is your favourite memory together (other than those mentioned above)?
The day we bought our house.
What do you love most about each other?
Chris loves that I always work through tough situations and try to see the positive or at least the light on the other side. I love that Chris is determined. He sets his mind to something and he sees it through to the very end.
How do you hope your friends and family see your wedding?
We hope that everyone sees it as an evening full of love, joy and laughter with a touch of class!
Have you thought of anywhere in your house you would like to hang your wedding photographs?
We have a perfect spot in our den where we can hang a collection of photos.
