Winter engagement photos London Ontario
We are off to photograph Megan & Brent’s wedding today at Riverbend Golf Club and I always love to look back on the engagement session-Winter engagement photos London Ontario and ready the stories and get to know the couple before I photograph their wedding so that I capture them authentically.
- We met using a very 21st century method of a dating app.
- Megan: This guy looks like a total nerd. This bodes well! Brent: Better than her pictures. (And I quote: “Which knowing us and how uncomfortable we are with pictures now at this stage makes a lot of sense.” – although we did get a lot we liked out of our engagement sessions so that bodes well for the wedding pictures!)
- With covid, we hadn’t gone anywhere and were always in the house together. I went to Niagara for the day with a friend to visit another friend, at which point Brent realized I would be gone the entire day and not know he had gone to buy the ring in the first place. I did guess he might and said as much while at the winery with my friends. We knew we were going to get married in 2021 because we had bought our house together end of January 2020. My mom was telling people the house was the ring. Brent did have a plan to make a nice dinner on Aug. 29th (one year less a day to our wedding date since we had already booked our venues in May even without an official proposal because we thought we should given the insanity of the pandemic starting to push things back already). However, neither of us were feeling that great so he didn’t. Instead, he proposed the following day, on the stairs when we were headed up to bed. As in – I was already half way up the stairs and he kind of nudged me and I thought he was just being silly then realized he was holding a ring.
- Probably the trip to Barcelona in July 2019. We hadn’t even been dating that long (like 4 months), but I’m on a teacher schedule and had booked a trip to Australia for the month of August. I am normally really aggravated by having the share space for long periods of time on trips and often need like an hour a day to myself – and he’s similar. We didn’t have that issue on our trip and when we realized we weren’t going to try to kill each other and didn’t even argue we were like ‘so this definitely works then.’ Neither of us had been to Barcelona before (he’d never been to Europe) so it was also cool just to go around and see all sorts of things. We’re similar in terms of how we like to plan out a travel day of just how much we want to do and how much downtime to have. We also really like good food so getting tapas all the time was awesome.
- We both like each other’s sense of humour. I’m definitely more high strung so I like that he is calmer than me (very noticeable with the pandemic at times). We just get along and our personalities seem to mesh well which is good considering we haven’t left the house much with the shutdowns so we pretty much just see each other.
- After all the insanity of the last year and a half, I just want everyone to feel like they can relax and have some fun at the party. We’re both double vaccinated and we’ve been feeling it out with our guests as well and it sounds like most of them should be fully vaccinated by then as well. I’ve been to some odd weddings where it was very odd and just stiff, and I don’t want that. I know we’ll still have restrictions obviously, but hopefully everyone can still let off some steam. It’s been a rough year for a lot of people so I’m hoping good food and an open bar will make a good party for everyone.
- We’re going to do a giant frame with a mat for everyone to sign as our guest book – we’re going to stick an engagement photo in it to start for at the wedding, then replace that with a wedding photo to then mount over the fireplace in the family room. We’ll probably do a couple others elsewhere, but I’m mostly looking forward to hopefully adding family photos with kids in the next few years.
- Recommendation! 🙂
