University of Guelph Arboretum engagement session
Back in the fall I photographed Rio & Keana’s University of Guelph Arboretum engagement session and it was such a beautiful location that I hadn’t had the opportunity of visiting before! We started with a fun picnic with personalized touches that incorporated their personalities, then took a walk around the beautiful grounds and captured lots of various locations and shots with the beautiful fall foliage. I can’t wait to see them today for their Ivey Spencer Wedding!
Tell us the story of how the two of you met.
We met during university, but didn’t start going out until after we had graduated and reconnected over our shared interests. Neither one of us was looking for a long term relationship when we started hanging out, but we grew closer over time until I couldn’t resist asking her out.
What were your first thoughts on seeing each other?
Rio thought that Keana was cute, Keana thought Rio was rude (for keeping his friends waiting for a group activity).
Tell me the proposal story (the long version is fine)
For Keana’s 29th birthday, Rio planned out a weekend-long D&D adventure on the high seas, invited Keana’s friends for a two-day sleepover, and ran them through a puzzle-heavy adventure. On Sunday afternoon, after the party had defeated a mighty dragon, Rio gave them a small, real-life treasure chest to open, and inside was Keana’s engagement ring. (He caught it all on video, too)
What do you love most about each other?
Rio loves Keana’s honesty and forthrightness. Keana loves that Rio makes her laugh!
How do you hope your friends and family see your wedding?
We hope that they enjoy themselves through the ceremony and reception. How they “see” it is less on our minds, we think it’s more about how we see it!
Have you thought of anywhere in your house you would like to hang your wedding photographs?
On our mantles and the wall by our stairs, so we can see them from anywhere on our main floor.
Why did you choose us?
Woodgate Photography came highly recommended, and they did not disappoint!
