Clara is off today to photograph Melissa and Alexander’s big day, here are some faves from their fall engagement session!
We saw a lot of great recommendations on Facebook.
Tell us the story of how the two of you met.
We meant at school in Toronto during our grad program. From there we became really good friends and would study together every week and work on assignments together
Tell me the proposal story (the long version is fine)
It was our 5th anniversary of us being together and it landed perfectly during the May 2-4 weekend. So we planned a trip together to Chicago (a city we both had wanted to see for a long time) and set out on a road trip. Alex had booked a reservation for dinner the first night we were there at the Signature Room on the 95th floor of the John Hancock Centre. The whole point was to be able to see the entire skyline of the city from the restaurant but of course it had been raining all day and the clouds had blocked our view for majority of the night. After dinner Alex decided wanted to go to the Navy Pier where he booked a private gondola on the Ferris wheel to take us up to the top and give us a different angle of the city skyline. Unfortunately it had continued to pour rain outside and there wasn’t much to see through the windows. However, when the gondola stopped at the top of the Ferris wheel Alex pulled out the ring and got on one knee and proposed.
What is your favourite memory together (other than those mentioned above)?
Our favourite memory of us together was when we first started dating about 5 months in we planned our first trip together to Quebec City. It was our first sort of “romantic getaway” and the city was beautiful.
What do you love most about each other?
How we can spend hours together and never get bored of each other.
How do you hope your friends and family see your wedding?
We hope they see it as a laid back but fun party, where they can celebrate and enjoy themselves.
