Pet model search winners Paco and Bandit

In July I ran a facebook competition with Pawsitively Unique Designs to find some pet models for her designs. Paco the chiwawa did an amazing job modeling the small designs – including two of my faves the bumblebee and ladybug. Bandit was a natural with modelling the medium sized designs, my faves being the structured coats! I had shared a couple of the shots from this shoot in the lead up to Pawloosa on my facebook page and also on display at my booth on the big day! I had so much fun (even though I’m still sunburnt) and the offer I had that day is still available- book any session (prices here) and get a free 5×7 professional album (worth $100). Contact me to take advantage of the offer which can be used as a gift certificate or for a session anytime in 2013.

The dogs were both so well behaved we got through all of the outfits so quickly I was able to do a quick shot of Bandit’s mom and her niece at the end 🙂

Part 5: Easter Mini Sessions

Happy Easter everyone! I hope that the kids didn’t wake up too early for the hunt and that you got some yummy chocolate to break what New Years resolutions were still sticking around. I’m a little sad that this is the fifth and final Easter Mini Session blog (you can click here to find Part 1, Part 2, Part 3 and Part 4) so I decided to cheer myself up with a little announcement! I have decided to do a Spring Mini Session in May and as I have had a bunch of enquires about still doing some shots with a bunny so I will be getting one of those to come along in the morning. If you’re interested get in contact asap as I already have 4 spots taken!
Taken at Robin’s pet farm on our first day of shooting this little girl was a bundle of energy and cuteness! Her white cape was just darling and look at her gorgeous thick hair!

The lucky last shoot from our two days of shooting little Ireland was the lucky winner of the facebook competition. She was a bundle of excitement and I just loved her peach coloured jeans!

Ireland’s older sister also got snapped while cuddling Jezebel.

Part 4: Easter Mini Sessions

This was my third shoot with (now not so) little Miriam and her gorgeous Family. Hey gorgeous Mom, Erika who was also involved in the Tea Party shoot has another little one brewing and if they are anywhere near as gorgeous as Miriam is not only in looks but personality I’m thinking doing shoots of them will almost be cuteness overload!

Speaking of cuteness overload! Baby Oliver and big sister Sophie came to the studio shoot and aren’t they just the cutest! That shot of her nuzzling with Jezebel the bunny breaks me!

Part 3 Easter Mini Sessions

Happy Good Friday to all of those celebrating! What a beautiful day it is here in London Ontario and I hope wherever you are you are having a lovely day! The shoot below was done outdoors at Robin’s pet farm using Found Decor Company props. Sam and Kyle have actually hired me as their wedding photographer for later this year but when I saw their gorgeous little girl and had the Easter Mini Sessions coming up I knew it would be a good time for them to get a few engagement photos at the same time.

Lauren and Liam are a very fun brother & sister duo who were up for everything with the bunnies and chicks and I loved being able to capture the love this little sis has for her big bro in the shot with them holding the signs. Hopefully will see them again in the summertime for a family shoot!

Part 2: Easter Mini Sessions

Hopefully you saw Part 1 yesterday which explains a little about the Easter Mini Sessions I did this year and will hopefully be doing again next year! I have loved seeing the feedback not only from the clients who had the sessions but also from the London community! As I mentioned yesterday we had back luck with the weather with the outdoor shoots being when it was -8 and the studio shoots from when it was 10 degrees outside so when I thought we would be able to get better shots of one of the littlest participants when he didn’t seem to happy outside I was more than happy to do a re-shoot at the studio.

Second shooter/ Bunny wrangler: Robin

The following photos were taken at the studio of the gorgeous brother and sister Arthur and Ava. How cute are their hats!

Part 1: Easter Mini Sessions

So a few weeks ago I was lucky enough to team up with Robin who has a small pet farm just north of the city (you can view her photography here) and with Found Decor Company for some of the props to do some Easter Mini Sessions! If you are a fan of my Facebook page you would have seen the sneak peaks I rolled out as I was editing them but I wanted to share more of each session so I decided to feature two of the mini sessions on the blog (1 from the outdoor shoots when it was -8 out and one from the studio shoots when it was 10 degrees outside!?!) each day leading up to Easter. Please share and pin until your chocolate filled hearts are content!

First up was adventurous Liam who patiently waited with his Mom and Robin for me as best as an active 2 year old can, while being entertained with Bunnies and Chicks!

Next we have the little superstar Trinity who LOVED Jezebel the bunny and has such a huge personality I think we were able to capture a bit of in the portraits. How can anyone not love that spring dress!

London Ontario Family Photography

This was my first shoot I did after moving back to London in September. Avelyn is growing into such a gorgeous lady, not that she hasn’t always been- I did her Newborn and 6 month shoot so now it is just like reuniting with old friends whenever we get together. This session had more of a lifestyles photography feel to it as it was mainly around their house, with a quick trip to a nearby park as well. I love shooting like this as it feels more like a photo-documentary rather than a portrait session staged with a background. I’m looking forward to having some fun in he snow this winter!

Pet Photography session helpful hints

Hey everyone, I’ve decided to start a new helpful blog series for anyone looking at booking a photography session and that would like to know some insider tips so that the session goes smoothly.

Today were starting with Pet Photography. They say never work with children and animals but I love both. Even better when it is together. The major thing is just having patience, understanding and the optimism that things can only get better!
1. Talk to your photographer about what sort of images you are after. This could mean you have a specific place in mind for the photo, that you are wanting something printed on canvas, you really want a close up of their nose, you mainly like black and white photos or simply that you like traditional photos (everyone looking at the camera) or contemporary photos (more casual style of photography).
2. Pick the right location. Somewhere that is familiar to you and your pet can be a good idea. You might want to have somewhere that will give you a variety of different looks (see this previous pet photography session in a park) or somewhere that all of the images have a similar kind of background which can be great for building a story out of your images.
3. If you want to bring a prop or something to keep the pet occupied, don’t introduce it straight away. For example, if your dog is obsessed with playing fetch, don’t introduce a ball straight away as then it could become a distraction.
4. Bring treats. Nothing can be said as to how much these can help during a shoot.
5. Have your pet groomed before the shoot. Your wouldn’t go to a photography shoot without brushing your hair, your pet doesn’t want to either.
Special- Pet Photography session in the location of your choice just $100 if you book this week only. Great idea for a Christmas gift voucher!

Central Coast NSW Pet Photography

I’m now safely back on Australian soil! Whenever anyone asked me what I missed most about the 2+ years away from home or what I was looking forward to seeing the most when I got back I would always say my dog, Beanie. About 5 weeks ago Beanie passed away at the old age of 14. Before I left I had thought that it could possibly be the last time I saw him and even though I know a bunch of great photographers I didn’t think to have a photoshoot of the two of us together. Of course I’ll always have the memories and the snapshots I took but having a pet photography session is something that can easily be overlooked so thats why I was so happy when Kevin and Shelly and child the labradoodle Ginger could join me in the park for some fun.
