I am quite often asked about what I charge for a Destination wedding so I decided with my aim of making my new website as helpful as possible that I would write a blog explaining how much I would love to capture your destination wedding and how it all works.

Destination Weddings are becoming more and more popular. With couples having smaller, more personal weddings and really wanting to make it a celebration and a party it has become more of a trend. Destination Weddings can be to a variety of places, generally I see them as three groups- ‘Going back home’ to where you grew up (which is sort of what my fiance and I will be doing next year), somewhere picturesque with amazing culture or going to an exotic place for some fun in the sun. So, you’ve chosen your destination/venue, now to decide if you would like to get a local photographer or bring one with you.
There are advantages to both and these are the main advantages in my opinion:

Bringing a photographer with you from home

• You get to meet and build trust with them before you leave, whereas some ‘resort photographers’ you don’t get to meet until the day of your wedding, and sometimes don’t even get to see a portfolio of their work
• They will be very excited about being able to get creative in a new place
• You can do an engagement session with them at a location that means something to you at home, which is a great thing to do with your wedding photographer as they will be able to know which angles and poses work best for you on the big day
• You can pay them in local currency

Hiring a local photographer

• They would know which locations to go to
• They speak the local language and know any customs
